Development of Home Industry

TLM Foundation has been assisting Nekmese Village, South Amarasi Sub-district, Kupang District, through the Foundation’s assisted village community development program since 2016. The existing development programs are productive gardens, village and community governance training on Village Law No. 6 2014, and community training. One of the activities in the community training program is the development of home industries targeting housewives who have potential to produce horticultural products such as chili, banana, corn etc. The purposes of this activity are; to improve the skills of housewives’ horticultural products management, to create a home-based industry by groups, and increase income and local ecomony.

Kiubaat Productive Plantation

One of the biggest problems faced by residents of Kiubaat village is the lack of a reliable livelihood. Most people rely on traditional farming techniques to plant rice and corn during the rainy season (December – March). However, these crops can only be harvested once a year. Outside of the rainy season, most people will take on odd jobs in order to earn an income, but usually there is not enough work to ensure basic needs.
